To whom it migth concern.
I have a user that is receiving the following message:
"The file d:\"user"\Outlook.ost is in use and could not be accessed. Close
any application that is using
the file, and try again."
The user has a e-mail box size on our Exhange 2003 server 1.6 GB.

I do not kwnow how big the local *.ost is.
The user is running Windows XP, with all service packs and Office 2003.

Looking forward to find a solution for this problem.

Thank you in advance.

Rgds

Does this error still pops-up after a reboot of the system?
Do you have the Office Communicator installed on this system or something
else that uses the ost-file from Outlook as a source of data?

I have been in contact with the user.a reboot helped for several hours. But
when he use a dongle, provided by O2 the error occured.
Have not been informed that Office Communicator or other software is using
the *.ost file.
And, no additional software have been installed.

It sounds like whatever is on the dongle is accessing the mailbox through
outlook.
