I used to be able to type in the adress bar "view-source:" followed by the
website and I would be able to open the source file ( for example
view-source:http://www.microsoft.com ) But ever since I updated to IE 6 I can
no longer do this. Of course I can still click on View, and then source, but
I was wondering if the command was changed to something else, because I would
rather type in view-source: in front of the address. Thank you in advance for
your help

Hi Enzo,

Often, emptying your IE cache files will fix this problem. For more
information, please review the URL below:

I don't have a problem viewing a source code, I just have a problem using
view-source: to get there.

That's covered in the link Sandi gave you...

If you have a shortcut to notepad on the desktop get rid of it or rename
it...

How do you empty IE Cache with Win xp? if cookies are in the NTSF (sp)
partition, how do I change permissions so that I can work with?

Thank you!

I don't have a shortcut to notepad on my desktop and I read through the link
Sandi gave me. There is nothing on the links similiar to the problem I am
having. What is occuring is that when I type view-source: in front of the web
address I get a "Cannot find server message" Here is a screenshot

Try a search? This question was answered recently in another thread
by Parth Pandya [MSFT]

<quote>
View source protocol has been blocked by design on XPSP2.

(Google Groups search for
"view-source:" MSFT group:microsoft.*.ie6.browser
)

Log on as administrator (a different administrator account to the one with
the problem) and delete the affected folders via Windows Explorer.
