I can no longer select text in Outlook 2007 email messages

Strange problem. I've lost the ability to select text in my Outlook email
messages (either in the preview panel, or when the message has been opened).
Rather than the cursor changing to allow me to select text when I hover over
the email, the cursor changes to an "open hand" (like a "stop sign" hand).
When I click the left mouse button, then the "open hand" cursor changes to a
"closed hand" cursor. When I hover over a web link in the email message the
hand changes to a "single finger hand" and the "Click o follow link" message
appears, and I am able to follow the link. These are the only cursor symbols
that display when I hover over any email message, no matter what format it
was sent in (plain text or html). I can't select any text, I can only follow
hyperlinks in the email.

Anyone familiar with this problem and know a fix? MS Tech Support will only
give me a "An unknown application error has occurred. Please try again later"
message, so I've given up on getting help from Tech Support.

I have the same issue. Do you use Adobe? I am wondering if this ia a plugin
issue.

Yes, I do use Adobe Acrobat ver 7. If you make any progress figuring out if
this is a plug-in issue, I'd be interested in hearing about it.

This is a pretty good sign that you're using something from Adobe because
those icons are what you might see when reading a PDF. Were I you, I'd
examine the add-ins in Outlook and disable any Adobe add-in you see.
