I reinstalled Office 2003 onto my Windows Vista computer. I downloaded the
updates that came automatically. One thing I did not do was download updates
for Office XP. I couldn't understand why these updates were being presented
to me since I don't use Office XP except for Publisher XP.

So now, I can no longer drag and drop files into my email message for
attachment. I get the circle with line through it. I CAN attach files using
the "Insert File" command. Please help!

the office updates include updates for pub2002 and you have it installed.

I just tried detect and repair and it didn't help. I have also noticed that
I can no longer use the "Send To Mail Recipient" menu when I right click on a
file. The command is listed on the menu, and when I click on Mail Recipient,
it attempts to do something, but I never get an Outlook mail window with the
file inserted as an attachment.

We are having a similar problem in that "Send to Mail Recipient" is no longer
working. Has there been an automatic upgrade that had a bug in it?

Thanks!

I couldn't ever figure it out so luckily I had a restore point prior to the
trouble and I restored my system back to the way it was. It's all working
now. Good Luck!
