In Mozilla Firefox, when I hit the "restore down" button (located between the
"minimize" and the "maximize" buttons), the window no longer reduces in size
like it used to. Instead I get a tiny unusuable box in the upper left of my
screen that has only "file", "edit", "view" and the "back" and "forward"
buttons in it. If I try reducing the size of the window by placing my
pointer arrow at the margins, no little arrows appear to allow moving the
margins. I know next to nothing about computers and need things explained in
great detail. Please help!

Try right click on the title-bar (where it I assume says Firefox), click on
size and use the arrow keys.

Or, you may have inadvertantly set an option in Firefox for FullScreen and
resized to nothing. Try clickoing on the "view" menu option and see what is
set.

Press Alt/Spacebar and a resize menu will open. Press "S" to size,
press the right-cursor, and the resize pointer will jump to the right
side. Press repeatedly till it's the size you want. Do the same thing
with the Down-cursor to size downwards. Press Enter to lock the size.

It's possible though that some parameter within FF has locked the size
of the window. Or, some malware could have done that.

Ask in a Firefox NG, or look for a Mozilla FAQ for better help in that case.
