I used to have an AIW7500, and was able to get around the macrovision
copy protection on VHS tapes by using a patch
(DisableATIMacrovisionDetection.exe) which apparently alters a file and
allows capture from macrovision protected VHS tapes. It worked perfectly
with the AIW7500 and MMC 7.7. I'm now using the AIW 9800 and MMC 8.7,
and although the patch runs, it doesn't seem to accomplish its task. The
recording button is grayed out when playing a macrovision protected VHS
tape.

Has anyone been able to get around macrovision protection using the AIW
9800, and if so, how?

I have a 9700 AIW. Finally had to get one of those macrovision busters. Also
called a video stabilizer.
It works perfectly.

Wish there were a software fix though.
