Can I "lock" slides for editing?

Is it possible to "lock" certain slides in PowerPoint, allowing users to read
and select the slides but not modify them? There will be some slides that I
do not want to lock in the same presentation.

Not really, but you could export the slide as an image and then re-isnert
the imgae on a slide.
