MY INTERNAL CDROM DOES NOT WORK.
I ININSTALLED XP THINKIING IT WAS A DRIVER ISSUE ONLU TO
FIND OUT MY CDROM (HARDWARE) WAS THE PROBLEM.

ALL i HAVE IS THE FOLLOWING TO TRY TO RESTORE MY SYSTEM
(INSTALL XP OS)

1. FLOPPY DRIVE
2. BLANK HDD
3. USB CDROM
4. XP CD

IF THERE IS NO WAY TO DO IT, I WILL HAVE TO TAKE MY
NOYEBOOK IN FOR REPAIR AND THE CDROM IS BUILY IN AND IS
NOT REMOVABLE.

THANKS,
PAUL S.

PS - SORRY FOR THE CAPS. I'VE BEEN UP ALL NIGHT AND
TYPING IN THE DARK.

Hi Paul,

First thing I'd check is to see if booting from USB device is supported in
the notebook's BIOS Setup. If so, set USB as first boot device and try
booting from the install CD. If booting from USB is not an option in BIOS
Setup, try d/loading the file to create the set of six setup bootdisks for
your particular version of XP:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=310994
Once the file is d/loaded, have six formatted floppy disks ready....put the
first disk in the drive, then double-click on the d/loaded file in order to
create the setup disk set.....will call for each respective disk. Once the
set of six disks has been created, boot from the first in the series of
disks, and insert each successive disk when prompted. Hopefully there will
be support for your USB CDROM, as many USB devices are supported. Good
Luck!!

Regards,
