Made in Dreamweaver, I see.
The reason you are seeing motion on your page is that you have placed your 'layers' directly into table cells, as shown here - <td width="291" background="images/fon_left.gif"> <div style="position: absolute; width: 278px; height: 431px; z-index: 2; This is close to the top of the list of "Bad things to do". One should never place absolutely positioned elements directly into table cells. The markup for these layers should all be moved out of the table cells, and replaced immediately above the </body> tag on the page. But there is another problem - using layers with 100% width tables. As the table expands to fill the screen, some of your contents will move away from the layers which are absolutely positioned. This will still likely cause you grief. I think you will have to reconsider your layout methods to go any further. Why are you using layers at all? -- Murray -------------- MVP FrontPage "kim" <(E-Mail Removed)> wrote in message news:34244427-4DF5-40E0-B4C1-(E-Mail Removed)... > Here's all of my front page: > <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> > > <html> > <head> > <title>1800CreditReport</title> > <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="style.css"> > <script language="JavaScript"> > <!-- > function MM_reloadPage(init) { //reloads the window if Nav4 resized > if (init==true) with (navigator) {if > ((appName=="Netscape")&&(parseInt(appVersion)==4)) { > document.MM_pgW=innerWidth; document.MM_pgH=innerHeight; > onresize=MM_reloadPage; }} > else if (innerWidth!=document.MM_pgW || innerHeight!=document.MM_pgH) > location.reload(); > } > MM_reloadPage(true); > // --> > </script> > </head> > > <body leftmargin=0 topmargin=0 marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" > bgcolor="#ffffff"> > <table border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" width="100%" > height="100%"> > <tr valign="top"> > <td width="50%" background="images/bg.gif"><img src="images/px1.gif" > width="1" height="1" alt="" border="0"> > </td> > <td background="images/bg_left.gif"> > <img border="0" src="bg_left.gif" width="35" height="883"></td> > <td> > <table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="780" height="85" > background="images/fon_top.gif"> > <tr> > <td width="300" align="center"><font size="6" color="#000080"> > 1800CreditReport.com</font><p> </td> > <td valign="bottom"> > <div align="right" style="padding-right: 30px;"> > <p align="left"><font color="#000080" size="5">Credit Card, > Credit Reports, Loans and more</font></div> > </td> > </tr> > </table> > <table width="780" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0"> > <tr> > <td height="46" background="images/fon01.gif"> > <p align="center"><img src="images/top1.gif" width="32" height="1"><img > src="images/separator.gif" width="2" height="46"><!--webbot > bot="Navigation" > S-Type="sequence" S-Orientation="horizontal" S-Rendering="graphics" > S-Theme="pixel" B-Include-Home="FALSE" B-Include-Up="FALSE" > U-Page="sid:1010" > --></td> > </tr> > <tr> > <td><img border="0" src="welcome_note.gif" width="780" > height="48"></td> > </tr> > <tr> > <td><img border="0" src="main01.jpg" width="780" > height="166"></td> > </tr> > </table> > <table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="780"> > <tr valign="top"> > <td width="291" background="images/fon_left.gif"> > <div style="position: absolute; width: 278px; height: 431px; z-index: 2; > left: 130px; top: 336px" id="layer2"> > <div style="position: absolute; width: 493px; height: 29px; z-index: 1; > left: 274px; top: 47px; visibility: visible; background-color: #000000" > id="layer3"> > <p align="center"> > <span style="font-weight: 700; font-style: italic; background-color: > #000000"> > <font color="#FFFFFF" size="5">Your Premier Credit Resource > Center</font></span></div> > <p> </p> > <p align="center"> </p> > <p align="left"><font face="Arial" color="#FF3300">Get Your Free Credit > Reports > Now</font></p> > <p align="center">Want more Credit Report Info? <a > href="credit_reports.htm"> > <img border="0" src="b_view.gif" width="67" height="15"></a></p> > <p align="left"><font face="Arial" color="#FF3300">Looking for an Auto > Loan?</font></p> > <p align="center">Want more Auto Info? <a href="auto_loans.htm"> > <img border="0" src="b_view.gif" width="67" height="15"></a></p> > <p align="left"> <a > href="http://www.credit.com/r/credit_card/af=p40611&ag=default&img=/assets/img/global/space_clr.gif" > style="text-decoration: none"><font color="#FF3300" face="Arial">Looking > for > a new credit card? I am actually using front page, I inserted a template that I have into
frontpage, I was trying to insert text over a background picutre, I have now figurd out how to modify the picture and get the text into the picture so that I won't need layers anymore, except for interactive buttons to link pages with, but will the content I write in the picture, which has now become part of the picture, count at all as content for SEO? I am in so over my head. I justlove the template look, better then I can make on my own, just trying to figure out how to get text onto it is driving me crazy. -- kim "Murray" wrote: > Made in Dreamweaver, I see. > > The reason you are seeing motion on your page is that you have placed your > 'layers' directly into table cells, as shown here - > > <td width="291" background="images/fon_left.gif"> > <div style="position: absolute; width: 278px; height: 431px; z-index: 2; > > This is close to the top of the list of "Bad things to do".
