We have a mix of XP Professional Standard, SP1 and SP2 PCs on our
network, about 1500 PCs in total.
For operational reasons we need to install Windows Installer 3.1 v2 on
all the PCs. We intend to use SMS 2003 to roll out the installer.
Once the rollout is complete, we want to run an inventory on "All
Windows XP PCs" to double-check if Windows Installer 3.1 v2 is
installed.
The question is - what do I inventory? What can I look for, using SMS,
to check if the correct version of Windows Installer
is...errr....installed?
Just to make my question a bit clearer....I can, using SMS2003, run a
software inventory of all our XP PCs to check for the presence of (for
example) MSSOAPT3.EXE.
What do I check for to ensure that Windows Installer 3.1 v2 is
installed?
Thanks for any assistance
