Can I Import MS Exchange .pst Files Into Vista Windows Mail?

Up on Vista. LOVE IT. Wanting to access old Microsoft Exchange .pst
files through Windows Mail. File>import > messages and choose message
type. It says

Message cannot be imported from the MAPI client

Any advice on how to access old mail data through new Windows Mail on
Vista?

Thanks in advance.

Outlook needs to be installed. If you don't have it, you can download the
Office demo, install it then do the import into it then into OE.

Office 2007:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/pr...741481033.aspx

I don't know if there is still the Office 2003 around or not now that 2007
is out.

I have a Vista machine that is already running an official copy of
Office 2007. So good-old "Outlook" is not on my machine. I looked at
the URL you provided above and didn't see a download link for getting
stand-alone old-fashioned Outlook. Can you provide a direct link for
me to download the stand-alone version of Outlook that I would need to
accomplish what you've said above? Thanks in advance!

You're either not paying attention or I'm not making myself clear.
OUTLOOK is no longer included with Office starting with the Office
2007 version. It's all Windows Mail now. That's what I was trying to
tell you. I have Office 2007 already installed. OUTLOOK is no longer a
part of that package. I guess you didn't know that?

Any other suggestions?

What version of Office 2007 do you have? Outlook 2007 is included in Office
2007 Professional, Professional Plus, and Ultimate.

Outlook 2007 is in the version I have. I don't keep up with the 90 versions
they're offering. In the past, it was with it. If it's not in the demo
either, I can't help that.

Outlook 2007 appears to be included in all Office 2007 Suites, except Home &
Student...

This is where I've ended up in the other newsgroup. I do want to
(legally, officially) purchase a copy of stand-alone Outlook. I would
like to purchase it online, download, and install. Any suggestions?
