Can IE be made totally secure?

I know this may be a loaded question but is it possible to configure
IE and Windows (assumeing you have the latest patches etc) so it is
immuned to hijacks and every other nasty that I could come across on
the web? Or I am just beating my head against the wall by trying to
clean my system and keep the crap off my computer?

Darren,

Nothing can make IE (or any browser) totally secure.

But, there are measures to improve safety.
