How can I hide the hard return signals while creating or replying?

I installed Outlook by default and didn't change any settings. But when I
tried writing a new message, or replying to a message, the hard return
signals were always visible, which made me annoying. I've searched a lot on
how to hide them, but failed.

So anyone can help me?

Thanks so much!

You need to turn off the display of field codes & such in Word. It should be
on the Tools menu > Options dialog somewhere based on which version of Word
you're using

Control-Shift-8 while in the email message.

I've been looking for that kind of option for a long time, but still failed
to see it. Could you show me up? Thanks.

This doesn't work for me. I think there might be some confusion on what
signals I meant. This forum seems not able to upload images. Anyway, the hard
return signal I meant was like the icon on Enter keys on many keyboards.
Ctrl+Shift+8 doesn't eliminate them. Thanks.

Click the Pilchrow mark (¶) in the toolbar to toggle that information off
and on.

Does ctrl-shift-8 do anything? Try this to test:

Start a new message.
Hit space about 10 times.
Hit control-shift-8.

Do you now see a number of dots? Or, if they were there to begin with, do
they go away?

Yes I've got your point. But that's not what I want. Maybe I've used the
wrong term about the signal I want to eliminate. As I said in my last reply,
the signal looks like the icon on Enter key on many keyboards, not the dots
you were talking about.

Thanks,
Nicholas

That mark is not what I'm seeing. However, could you tell me how you type
that mark here? I think using your way, I can also paste the signal I want to
hide here too.

Thanks,
Nicholas

I use AllChars (http://allchars.zwolnet.com/) to enter characters like that.

If it's a formatting mark you're seeing, then Tools>Options in Word should
allow you to hide it. Look on the View tab.
