I have a windows XP with no SP1, 2 nor 3. I have dial-up with 4 hours
connection time.
I have SP3 cd, but it needs at least SP1 in windows.

Know of a friend or someone with a fast connection and ask them to download it for
you. You can also order it from Microsoft but I do not have the link at present.
Maybe someone will post it for you

You are incorrect. You need SP1A, not SP1.

Nominally, it takes 5 hours 5 minutes to download SP1A installation program
at 56K baud. The file is 125.1 MB in size. For all intents and purposes,
SP1A has virtual machine (VM) disabled vs. SP1 is the difference.

Taken from: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322389
To install Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3), either Windows XP Service Pack
1a (SP1a) or Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) must already be installed.

Note:
Difference between SP1 and SP1a, see:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/813926/

So you don't need SP1a (not SP1 as you said). You can install WinXP SP2 then
SP3. Speaking of which, does SP3 setup CD include SP2? Take a look at your
SP3 CD.

I just put sp2 on and skiped sp1. Then went to sp3 on disk and then windows
update and got the rest.

Clearly, you aren't going to download it. And, SP3 requires at least SP1a.

So, you need a CD for SP1a (or SP2) and SP3.

There are two ways to do this. The first, and probably fastest and
cheapest, is to find someone with a fast connection who can download these
and burn them to CD for you. If you don't know anyone personally with such
a connection, try an internet cafe or a computer store. This way, you can
have the disks in a day or less.

Perhaps you know someone who works in an office and can do this.

The other choice is to contact MS and pay to have them ship you these CDs.
You will pay, and you will wait.

Sammy,
That worked for you, but won't for the original poster(op MD). MD does *not* have sp2 available permitting sp1 to be skipped.

In the past, I've ordered SP2 CD and the SP3 CD from MS when they became
available. Both waiting periods were about two weeks. The wait factor is
inconsequential. The fee is certainly not excessive. You get a pressed CD,
not something that will suffer media burn rot. Just have an empty CD case
available.

The problem I have with getting any file from anyone is a possibility that I
may receive an unwelcome surprise as well. Intentional or not.
