Let me try again... maybe I did not say it right...

I have several master templates and can't get them to talk to specific slides.

Everything I am doing is WITHIN my presentation, so I am not picking design
templates off the task pane.

Inside my presentation, I have created 3 pairs of master templates which all
have the same color design but I changed them to different fonts, graphics,
etc.

How do I get master template no. 1 to apply to slides 1-10
How do I get master template no. 2 to apply to slides 11-20 and
How do I get master template no. 3 apply to slides 21 through 30.

Hopefully, my explanation is understandable.

Select slides 1-10 in the slide thumbnail pane on the left of the screen.

Choose Format|Slide Design so you can see the slide design task pane.

With the appropriate slides selected, click the appropriate master slide --
it will be listed under the section "used in this presentation."

The key is to select the slides in the thumbnail pane before clicking the
slide master/slide design.
