I'm new here in usenet and this group.

As i'm still using Windows 98 SE and Outlook Express 6.0 i read that an
antispam tool would be recommended.

Somewere Pretty Good Privacy was suggested. Unfortunately on the homepage is
only version 9.0 available (as a trial version) which is designed for W2K
and XP.

Might somebody send me a link or even mail the freeware version from PGP 8.1
or give any other freeware tipps?

Thanks in forward for your help!

Best regards,
Bernd

Convert to thunderbird. It's much safer than OE. Built-in junk mail filter.

PGP 8 was the first version built for xp. Why not go to an older
version?

I havd downloaded from the international PGP pages.

For version 8.1 try
http://www.educ.ps.toyaku.ac.jp/~kos...GP810-PF-W.zip
or
ftp://rayman.gjar-po.sk/win95/security/PGP810-PF-W.zip

For other versions of PGP / GPG and related info go through Eric Howes page

Take a look at GnuPG:

"GnuPG is the GNU project's complete and free implementation of the OpenPGP
standard as defined by RFC2440 . GnuPG allows to encrypt and sign your data
and communcation, features a versatile key managment system as well as
access modules for all kind of public key directories. GnuPG, also known as
GPG, is a command line tool with features for easy integration with other
applications. A wealth of frontend applications and libraries are
available."

According to MicroPlanet's home page http://mpgravity.sourceforge.net/
"Gravity is a full featured Windows Usenet online/offline news client
with an extensive feature list. Gravity has been a popular news reader
since 1996."

The OP is looking for an Anti-Spam program (see below for original
message). Your suggestion is inappropriate because MicroPlanet Gravity
doesn't do email or detect spam. But thanks anyway for the anti-Mozilla
comment.

This message posted with Thunderbird.

Computers make it easier to do a lot of things, but most of the things
they make it easier to do don't need to be done.

GPGshell
http://www.jumaros.de/rsoft/index.html

GPGshell is a graphical interface for GnuPG (GNU Privacy Guard).
It requires an already working installation of GnuPG v1.4.2.2 or later
(because it does not have any cryptographic code itself) and some
basic knowledge about the GnuPG command-lines and functions.

I second Eric on this -- GPG is great and works perfectly with all my PGP
keys. Also I use it on Linux and Windows, and I'm always up for anything
crossplatform
