I downloaded Internet Explorer 7, and I completely regret it, because I'm
having a lot of trouble with it (I can't get some sites to work with it). Is
there way to downgrade myself from IE7 to IE6?

Hi Blackeye :-)

This newsgroup is for the IE6 Internet Explorer. IE7 Beta 2 Public Preview
testers are being asked to post their comments and/or questions related to
that beta on the IE7 Beta newsgroup where they will be able to get better
answers and assistance.

With your newsreader:
microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general newsgroup.
(news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsof...plorer.general)
or via the web:

However, speaking from my own personal experience with that program was
that, once I uninstalled the update, IE6 would did not return to normal
function no matter what I did. I tried a system restore, but, it did not
resolve the problems. Ulitmately, I had to do a Repair of XP to get my IE6
back to normal function.

Hope this helps.

Hi,
Try a regular uninstall first. Go to Control Panel> Add or Remove Programs.
Check "Show Updates" at the top. Look for Internet Explorer 7. Select IE7
and remove it.

Hope this helps,

Hi,
Assuming Windows XP...
No guarantees, but go to Control Panel> Add or Remove Programs> Add/Remove
Windows Components. Uncheck Internet Explorer. Restart. Repeat, but check
Internet Explorer this time. Restart.

If unsuccessful with that, post back to this thread.

Hope this helps,

Why are you peddling this rubbish? Just go to Control Panel-Add/Remove
Programs, tick the "show upgrades" box and uninstall it as normal.

Hi Don,

Yes - WinXP. Did as you suggested (have tried that before, but this time did
the restart after each setting change). The only difference between installed
and not installed is the checkbox is ticked! The 56.6Mb does not move up into
my installed list for IE, there are no more files on my harddrive, nothing.

So I tried Jan's solution as it's in the same thread.

Carefully did the regedit and changed the 1 back to a 0. Quit the regedit,
then opened it up to verify what value was there. Quit again and then
rebooted. On startup it asked me if I wanted to clean up my personal files as
Internet Explorer had been removed from my computer, I replied Yes.

Then went through the add / reboot / remove / reboot cycle a few more times
with still nothing to show for it.

Once upon a time, you used to be able to check the "override" box and force
a complete install.... Is there going to be a similar feature added to IE7
(pretty please?)

Ta for the help so far guys....

Mike
