Can I Get To A Form Attachment Programmatically?

I am developing a custom form with some user-defined fields and an Excel
spreadsheet attachment. Can I programmatically manipulate the spreadsheet
when the user opens it? Can I fill some of the cells with values from the
form? I've been playing around with the Item_AttachmentRead event, but I
can't get a reference to the spreadsheet.

Any suggestions?
