1. Click into the cell that is immediately below and to the right of
the split that you want.
2. Window » Split.
3. Move either or both bars, if necessary.
4. Window » Freeze panes.
5. Save the workbook.
But if you don't have Help » About, either you have some pretty
aggressive macros in a startup file or your Excel is hosed and needs
repair.
