I've been looking at the Vista upgrade adviser and my Epson Scanner
(Perfection 2400) has newer drivers available but it asks to choose between
32bit or 64bit drivers. It told me I could right click My Computer, choose
Properties... General and find out but it doesn't show that data there. My
processor is a Pentium 4, 2.4 GHz. I use the NTFS file system. I believe
that made my system 64bit. Is that correct?

If you didn't specifically buy a 64 bit computer, which is of a
significantly higher cost, you don't have it.

As an add-on. Today I installed the .NET Framework for Windows XP. Does
that apply here?

No your system is not 64 bit. The pentium 4 2.4GHz CPU is a 32 bit processor
which means it is a 32 bit system. The epson upgrade is asking you if your
OS(Vista) is 32 bit or 64 bit. If you upgrade to Vista make sure you get the
32 bit version as your computer will not handle the 64 bit version. NTFS
does not mean 64 bit. In System properties it will tell you if your system
is 32 or 64 bit in Vista. In XP it will only say XP Professional x64 as your
version if XP is 64 bit. Good Luck and make sure you get 32 bit vista if you

Not enough information provided. Most P4 2.4 GHz processors are socket 478
32 bit. NTFS is a file system format and has nothing to do with identifying
32 or 64 bit processing.

No, it's not correct. It's probably 32-bit. Go to Start | Run and type
Winver. Unless it says there that your computer is 64-bit, it's 32-bit.

I'm not sure what you're asking, but installing the .net framework has
nothing at all to with whether your system is 32-bit or 64-bit.

Whether it's 32-bit or 64-bit is a hardware question.The .net framework is
software.
