Can an email with EclipseMediaOnline as part of the 'From' but not part of
the address be filtered so it can be deleted when detected by the Rules in
Outlook 2003?

The From appears like this example: RN Schools from EclipseMediaOnline
& they send a lot of spam about different offers and from different ISP
addresses but do say from that org.

Jim

use a 'words in the header' rule and put that as the word.

Thank you Diane however that isn't working. Outlook 2003 has the rule of
'specific words in the header' and somehow they getting through anyway.
Would their placing the 'RN Schools from EclipseMediaOnline' in quotes?
Also they have an actual email address with it. The headers vary with
whatever they are spamming but that name is always there.

Any other thoughts?
Jim

This is Spam? Do yourself a favor and stop trying to filter individual
spammers and install a third party spam solution. I have used SpamBayes
from Sourceforge.net successfully for many years and seldom receive any spam
in my in-box.

So far, I've only tried to delete a couple of them and it worked but not in
this case. I'll see what that SpamBayes is thanks. Was hoping for a short
term solution. Jim

Trust me, a long term solution will give you more peace of mind.

When you look at the raw source of the e-mail, is the Subject header
actually written in plain text (ASCII only) or is it UTF-8 encoded (or
use some other character set)? If encoded, the raw source will show
the header starting with an equals sign; i.e., it will look something
like "=UTF-8...?<encodedtext>". Because it is encoded, your rule
looking for the text string won't work. The string of characters in
the encoded version are not the same as for a plain-text version. What
you see in Outlook's UI for the Subject header is the rendered string
after it has been decoded. That may not be what is actually in the
Subject header.

If the e-mail address doesn't vary, just filter on that in the From
header ("in sender's address" clause). E-mail addresses MUST use ASCII
characters (i.e., no encoding allowed).

if the domain is always the same, use @domain.com as the words. Look at the
internet header to see what words are repeated in each and unique so they
wont get legit mail. Or just get a decent spam filter.

Do you have the address in your Safe Senders list by chance?
