For example, if I type "water, pipe" in the 'Search for the word(s):' field
in the Advanced Find box, Outlook will search for every email with the word
water in it, and also look for every email with the word pipe in it. What I
want Outlook to look for is every email with both water AND pipe in them. How
can this be done?

Use the Advanced tab to specify your criteria and they will be searched as
"AND".
