Can a disk be checked to ensure that it is OK ?

I want to reinstall windows XP onto my MacBook using BootCamp. When I tried
originally all went OK, no problems. I have a new hardrive now on the MacBook
and when I tried to install XP it was a real drag , wasn't right, sticking at
a couple of places, so I have removed it. Before I try again I was just
wondering if there is any way in which the disc can be checked to ensure that
it is OK ?
Can it be verified on a PC or can Microsoft UK verify it for me ?
Thanks
Brian

Hi Brian

If you go to the disk manufacturer's website you should be able to
download a diagnostics program that will check out your disk for you.

Hope this helps.

Download a drive diagnostic utility from the drive manufacturer's web site.
That will create a bootable floppy or CD. Boot from that and run the
diagnostics.

Brian,

You mentioned a "new hard drive". Do you mean a way of checking the CD, or
the hard drive?

OK, thanks everyone.

I gather then that it is possible to have an XP installation disk checked
out to ensure that it is clean and OK. I will have to find me a local techie
that can do this for me. The problem is that I only use AppleMac ( a Macbook
and an iMac ) and do not have access to a PC, so downloading anything that is
not apple formatted or apple specific is pointless. This is the reason for
using bootcamp, so I can run the macbook in PC mode.

Cheers

Brian
