How can I disable collapsed conversations in Outlook Express?

Hi,

For no apparent reason, my outlook express has changed the way it shows my
emails, to give collapsed conversations. I have worked out how to expand
them, but I would prefer not to have this format at all. It's very annoying
to find that any email with a subject that matches another email - even if
they are unrelated - gets lumped into that "conversation". I have had to go
back as far as January to find a new email in my inbox, because it didn't
have a subject and had been added to one from a year ago without a subject.

I would also like to know how I ended up with this unwanted "feature" - so
that I can avoid getting it again.

Thank you in advance for any help.

Cat

Turn the Conversation option off - located under Views/Current Views/Group
