Can the default "due date" be removed from a new task?

Every time that I open a new task in Outlook, it automatically puts the start
date and the due date as the present date. It would be great if I could
change the default so that there's nothing in those boxes unless I want them.

No, you can't make the default no date.

After furious head scratching, DanielWF asked:
