I am using Act 2007 and need to deactivate word as the text editor of
Ountlook so that I can keep outlook history in ACT (my contact manager)

In Outlook go to Tools -> Options and click on the Mail Format tab. Uncheck
the "Use Microsoft Office Word 2003 to edit e-mail messages" box and click
OK.

If you're using Outlook 2007, you can't. Word is the only editor Outlook
2007 has.

This is outlook 2007 and that option is not there. I am not sure if the new
Outlook eliminated this option.

OWWWW. Geez, I stub my toes often enough without Microsoft slamming a
sledge hammer on them. I don't even want to waste the time
contemplating the stupidity of that decision. There was no
bang-for-the-buck for me to waste money on OL2003. Obviously 2003 would
be a dead-end version for me even if I won the lottery and felt like
wasting some money.

I feel your pain. I eschew Word in Outlook. I want PLAIN TEXT.

So.... why do you bother posting here if Outlook is so lame you cannot or will not even look at new versions? Trials are free and you can uninstall anytime you wish to revert to your chosen mail client version.
