I would like to start using a web design tool to maintain my website. I have
been using Publisher 2002. If I go to Frontpage can I import my existing
website code and if so are there areas of the code that will not completely
convert?

Publisher doesn't create websites. It mangles them.

The best thing you can do is to print out your publisher document, and
rebuild it from scratch in FP.

Please, oh please, look thru many previous posts about this question. Do NOT
pursue using Publisher as a web page designing tool. The results are bad for
many reasons that you will read.ou will read. Use the correct tool,
FrontPage, to build web pages. It really is toooooooooo bad that Publiher
even hints that their files can become web apge, html, files........ they
make terrible code. Trust me.

You could...but it'd be a mess, and you'd spend untold hours cleaning it up.
Start from scratch in FP... using your publisher web as a guide. You should
be able to use images from the pub web, if you've got them already properly
sized and optimized.

You can also use the text, but copy it into Notepad first so you strip out
any formatting, then place into FP.

Or convert the Publisher pages to PDF format and just make those
available on your site.

Whatever you do, do NOT use the publisher "save as HTML" option.

Been there done that.
I created and maintain a web site for our homeowners association.

The person who writes the monthly "newsletter" works for a major real estate company,
and uses publisher to create it.
( Because they use publisher believe it or not, to create / update real estate listings on
the company website )
"Person" emails me the "newsletter" and asks me to put it up on the site.
I spent hours on the last one and could not make it work.
Even using programs that are not yet .....eeerrr....uuhmmm..... available to the
public!!!!!!!

You have to use programs that are :-)

Seriously, after you get the Pub to PDF, then open it in PS and resize it
and save it as a .gif...I do it all the time. I works pretty ok.

But to covert a web to PDF is silly...imo.

I suggest you should publish the site first then use FrontPage's import
fuction by going to:

File, Import.

You can then enter the URL at the appropriate location on the import
form.

99% of the time it works better this way.
