Hello!
Can the compression of the drive c: cause a hang of Windows Vista 64 when I
try to unlock Windows Vista 64 in about 8 hours of its being locked? The
Windows uploaded through BitTorrent when it was locked. The Windows Vista 64
does not hang if it has been locked less than 3 hours. The Windows Vista 64
did not hang before I compressed the drive c: to save disk space.
Sincerely,
Dima

You should never compress the partition the OS is on. That's playing
with fire.

I can't believe that anyone in this day and age would compress a hard drive.
Although it was routinely done back in the DOS/Win 3.1/Win95 days, it
wasn't particularly safe then and it certainly isn't safe now.

Whether this compression is the cause of your difficulties I can't say. We
simply do not have enough information but I suspect that anyone who thought
compressing his hard drive was A Good Thing was doing other stuff that was
detrimental to his computer's health. Your issue could be caused by
overheating and/or bad hardware components as well. Too many factors for
people who can't see the computer to untangle what you've done/got.

Test your hardware and buy a bigger hard drive if you want to run Vista.

Disk compression adds to the overall overhead of operating your computer.
The files have to be found in the compressed drive. Then they have to be de-compressed
before they are finally passed back to the computer itself.

If you need more hard drive space, purchase and install a bigger hard drive.

Thanks Carey for replying!
I have 750gb on two HDDs already. I do not want to increase the noise by
adding a third HDD.
