how can I change default line spacing in Outlook

I've changed e mail editor to Word (originally so as to allow me to insert
hyperlinks in messages) but now text in my e mail messages defaults to double
line spacing which I can change back on each individual message but I'd much
rather the default was just set to single line spacing
This is driving me insane

Using Outlook 2003
