Can I change the colours within the theme Windows XP Style?

Hi all,

I don't want to go into WindowsBlinds extremes, I would just like to change
a few of the colours in the default Windows XP style (ie: title bar or menu
bar). In classic style you can change those things, but I can't seem to
find a way using the XP style - there seems to be only 3 colour schemes,
Default (blue), Olive Green & Silver - can I make a variation on these? Is
there a third party program that allows one too make new colour schemes or
new styles (that doesn't slow the system down like WindowsBlinds) which will
work natively in WinXP?

Thanks,

Right click your desktop and select display properties. Then select the
Appearance tab, the Advanced. In the next window you will see an item
address window with a down arrow. Click on that and Tweak away. All this is
down while in your XP theme or any other.

Yes, I've tried this, it only affects Windows Classic Style - any of the
newer items such as menu bar or title bars under XP style remains
un-affected by these changes in advanced. Any other hints?

The only items whose colors you MIGHT be able to change in the XP-style
windows will show up in the list in Appearance.

See this site for a way to change all the colors:

Right click your desktop. Now click properties then click the themes tab ( on my system it's the first one) and then in the "Theme:" line click the drop down list arrow and choose modified theme and voila away you go. You can then click the appearance tab\advanced button and click on any one of the boxs at the to and you will see the options activate down the bottom. Including the first and second colour choices. For instance you could set the first choice as orange and then the second as yellow and the line would fade from orange to yellow. The effect is immediate and you can see the results as you do them in the upper window. This is where you can change fonts\styles\colours\spacing and many other options. Simple click the drop down list arrow and choose what you want to change or click what's in the window to activate the options at the bottom. If an option does not become active then it is something you can't change. For instance. If in the drop down list you choose Icon Spacing : Vertical the colour or font options are not active just the numbers to set the spacing. Good luck.

Yes, I understand about this process - however it does not affect the title
bars or menu bars for example (only under XP style buttons - try it...) what
you describe only affects classic styles.

So my question still stands...

You really might want to try WindowBlinds 4.2. It's hardware accelerated
now. It definitely won't slow your system down.

And if you install SkinStudio (http://www.skinstudio.net) you can easily
change the colors of specific parts of a window.

Or you can change the color of everything at once.
