Hi,

I have a HP Deskjet printer 3915. My black color HP (no. 21) cartridge
is empty. Staples told me today that they do not sell cartridges that
can be refilled.

Is here anybody who knows what company sells cartidges that fit in my
printer that I later can refill?

Thanks,

Ette

No. HP, Dell, and Epson inkjet printers, with a few exceptions have the
print head (those nozzles that heat up and shoot ink onto the paper) built
into the cartridge. The designs are patented so third-party replacements are
not available.

Take your No 21 cartridge (or any Dell, HP, or Epson cartridge) to Staples
and use it to get dollars off your purchase of a new or recycled cartridge.

Or buy a refill kit.

That's the official company line, designed to keep them out of trouble
with HP, and to sell their own line of refilled cartridges. Don't
believe it. A Google search on "refill hp 21" just turned up a list of
1,100,000 pages. You'll probably find the information you seek there.

Avoid refill ink sources that sell "universal" ink, that is, ink that's
supposed to work in any inkjet printer. Look for sources that list ink
that is specific for your printer, if possible. There should be several.
Expect our resident troll to pipe up here to say that the only source
for HP printer ink is HP, and that if you refill you risk dire
consequences. Don't believe him, either.

I've been successfully refilling HP 56 and 57 carts for three years, and
I've saved a lot of money doing so. The procedure for refilling HP 21
carts is similar, so I'd say the chances of success are high.

Good luck!

As if you can beleive a relabeler who will not disclose what they are
selling.

Most original cartridges can be refilled. The HP
black cartridges are especially easy to refill.
You use a device to fill the cartridge by putting
ink through the head.

Here is a place that sells the equipment and ink
to refill, Cautions are here:

Not affiliated, just a consumer. I fill
cartridges for my HP and Canon printers.

George, the HP 21, like the 56, isn't usually refilled through the head.
It's most easily filled by injecting through the top. One of the refill
kits contains a bracket to hold the cartridge which contains a place to
draw ink out through the head to clear any air bubbles or minor clogs,
but that's for after refilling.

Yep, a big oops is required. I checked, but
didn't check far enough. Sorry, but you are
correct. Glad I have the 45 cartridge (HP970).
