At some point I lost the ability to burn cds with Windows Media Player
and the built in cd burning software in XP. I don't know for certian
when it happened because I don't personally use this software,
although others in the house would like to. Windows Media says no
device found, and the burning software says there is no cd in the
drive even though there is. Since the problem started I had replaced
the dvd-rom with a dvd-rw drive. I have tried uninstalling the dvd-rw
drive, reinstalling both drives, updating their firmware (there were
no driver upgrades), uninstalling, reinstalling, and upgrading all
other burning software, doing a system repair from the install disk,
and every suggestion given to others with this problem on the
internet. I've had no luck. Any ideas?
