You can, but if it is Spam, that you wish to bounce, all that you are doing
is advertising that your email address is live, and saleable, so you will
get loads more.

Try the delete button instead.

There are various problems with that, not the least of which is
that the sender may not have used his own return address.

If you see the mail, you already have accepted it. Bouncebacks need to be
performed at the server. So, contact your mail provider and ask about how
to blacklist addresses.

Bouncebacks are not always useful, because of the rise in the number of
forged FROM: addresses. You could wind up targeting a completely
uninvolved person.

Better to simply blacklist and ignore.

Get Mailwasher Pro. Works for me on 8 accounts for more than 6 years now.

Kills SPAM by learning and can do exactly what you want: bounce/delete/bounce on server.

Bounce is nice because it tells sender you do not exist / anymore.

It is also likely to get you blacklisted, since the return address used in
spam emails is seldom correct. If the innocent third parties to whom
you are sending the bounce complain to your ISP, the ISP could take
punitive action against you.

Gary,
Untrue statement for Mailwasher.
If the return address is incorrect i.e. not matches the sender's address MW will flag and not
bounce.

MW doesn't have sufficient data to make that decision.
I've been involved in the anti-spam business for a long time,
having been a SpamCop member for many years. There is
absolutely nothing in the headers that would allow one to judge
whether a given return address is correct or not.
