I recently installed Norton Ghost v10 and an ASP account was set up on
my computer. I am a single user and up until now, when I booted up, I
booted directly into Windows. I'd like to continue to booting up this
way and not have an additional step of choosing between my own account
and the ASP.NET account.

Therefore, is it possible to turn this account off or delete it
entirely? I read the article posted at
http://www.mvps.org/marksxp/WindowsXP/aspdot.php
and as I understand it, it appears okay to delete this account if I
have no intentions of doing any .NET development, which I don't. Is
this correct? If I'm wrong about this, is there a way I can turn this
account off, the same as has been done to my guest account?

System:
Win XP Pro
NTFS file system

You can restore the system to automatically login to whatever account you
want.

1. Go to Start | Run and type in: control userpasswords2 | Ok.

2. On the Users tab, clear the Users Must Enter A User Name And Password To
Use This Computer check box and then click OK.

3. In the Automatically Log On dialog box that appears, type the user name
and password for the account you want to be logged on each time you start
your computer.

You can accomplish the same thing by:

Download and install tweakui for up and use its auto logon feature.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/p.../powertoys.asp

Lastly you can add the Dialog box that comes up when running control user
passwords 2 to the Control Panel with the following tweak:

Add Control User Passwords2 to the Control Panel (Line 1)

Thank you for the quick reply.

This is all new to me as I've never worked with user accounts before.
I've only had one account, my own as both the user and the
administrator. How do I go about finding out what password the ASPNET
account is using so that I can input it the "Automatically Log on"
window that comes up?

You have to enter your account password. If you don't have a password,
then leave it blank.
Click Start > Run
control userpasswords2
Choose your account from the list
Uncheck the check box "Users Must Enter A User Name And Password To

Enter your password

That was the information I was looking for. I don't use a password
myself, but I thought I might need one for ASPNET. Then it occurred
to me that as Administrator that shouldn't be necessary. Anyway, your
advice worked like a charm and now my boot up sequence is back to
normal.
