My computer is a 1100 Athlon, with 512 SDRAM, and a 15 gig hard drive. I've
using Windows XP. Recently My computer been acting up, its started freezing up,
then when I tried to down new Nvidia drivers for the video card , all I got was
a black screen. Now this computer doesn't boot up much if I turn the computer
off, ( if I'm persistent it sometimes works).

When the computer doesn't boot up, and I re-start it normally..it run through
"scandisk" but at the end of that program it usually freezes up. another very
odd thing is that when I run the "Norton utility (futility) Scandisk" it reports
that I'm running low on hard drive memory and want to remove data from internet
cache 100- 300 kb...nothing critical...but it has consistently indicated
this....and I clean out the cache every time. That seem kind of symptomatic of a
virus, or a worm. I have Norton Virus Scan but it hasn't indicated anything.
I've downloaded the newest video drivers...my computer still freezes up..

Checked the error log in Windows Xp...it says..

"The COM+ Event System detected a bad return code during its internal
processing. HRESULT was 8007043C from line 44 of d:\nt\com\com1x\src\events\tie
r1\eventsystemobj.cpp. Please contact Microsoft Product Support Services to
report this error."

also.

"Volume Shadow Copy Service error: Unexpected error calling routine
CoCreateInstance. hr = 0x80040206."

can anyone help?

To make someone run out with potato salad in his hand, pretending he's throwing
up, is not what I call hospitality." Jack Handey

Do a system repair
Event IDs 1000, 8193, or 4609 in the Windows XP Application Event Log
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=823772
The last line before CAUSE in this article is the same error you are getting.
