running xp ie6 version 6.0.2800.1106. Had a few issues with
pop ups etc..cleaned them with spybot, did a virus scan
with latest NAV proggie..no probs there. It's always the
same, when i start ie6 everything is fine but it uses 100%
of my CPU when ie6 is running, I know this by using windows
task bar - performance. I can navigate no probs, it just
uses all my CPU power, pewter gets hot after a while. And I
can't close ie6 after i have opened it, the only way to
close it is to use windows task bar manager.

p.s i have reinstalled ie6.0.2800.1106 with no luck, I
personally think it's an ie engine prob...any ideas would
be great.
I've used the latest ie6 patch, no luck
pps. This is not a scumware, pop up problem, does anybody
know what the issue is here??

CPU Utilization Is Unexpectedly High After Exchange Virtual Server Fails
Over to Another Cluster Node.
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=821264 ( W2000/2003 server )

Store.exe uses a higher percentage of your CPU resources than you expect.

If all fails then I would check for a new variant of scumware if you have
not already done so.

Go to http://www.spywareinfo.com/downloads.php#det
Download "Hijack This!" [freeware] or download direct (below):
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/hijackthis.zip

If you get a 404 error or Access denied, try:
http://216.180.252.218/~spywareinfo....hijackthis.zip

Unzip, double-click "HijackThis.exe" and Press "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log"
button.
Click: "Save Log" (generates "hijackthis.log")

Next, HijackThis | Config [button] | Misc Tools [button]
Click: Generate StartupList log [button] (generates "startuplist.txt")

Next, go to the below location:
http://www.spywareinfo.com/forums/

Sign in, then copy and paste both files in your message.

I had a similar problem. My virus scanner didn't detect anything. I then had
a friend referred me to Ad-aware 6 and it found, removed and fixed the
problem. It was some scum ware I picked up somewhere

Hope this helped.

First eliminate any scumware.

I've been experiencing the same problem over the last 2
weeks.

It looks like the problem is being caused by Hotmail. As
soon as I log out of Hotmail CPU utilisation drops back to
normal, ~ <5%.

Let me know if it's the same for you?
