Thank you very much for your prompt and very helpful reply. As you said
adjusting the distance between the text and page number is a real beast, but
your solution killed the beast.
Now my other problem is that these distances and top and bottom margins seem
to have a will of their own when I print the document. Of course I have
converted my doc to PDF and printed that. In the PDF format everything looks
fine but after printing the top and bottom margins get bigger. Do I have to
change the settings on the printer?
