Thanks Jon,
thank god for system restore...sort of.....
my hosts file is fine, i also tried adding the site to the hosts file.
I went to the link regarding the TIF file.
Unfortunatly the administrator acct does not have access to the necessary
user files. I added(wondering why it was necessary) the administrator to the
user account with full controll.
still there were not necessary permissions to access the TIF folder. I
clicked and applied various permissions late at night and lost access to the
account from the users log on....system restore....
logged on in safe mode as administrator and found the same problems.
(although the administrator account can access the site with IE)
somewhere along the line (before the system restore) I did manage to delete
the TIF folder but still could not access the site through the user
account....
Now my cache is stuck on 0 and keeps asking me to choose a size between 0
and 1 and wont accept one as an answer.
So what do I do to set the permissions correctly for the administrator
account? and at what level do i start. Root drive? (this is a work group
computer) All the settings were default to this point except that simple
file sharing is unchecked in folder view as well as those regarding hidden
and system files etc.
