Can 2 dvd/cd-burners function in Windows XP Pro?

I have a Sony DVD-RW and a Plextor CD-RW in my computer
but only 1 will fully function at a time.
It only allows 1 drive to have recording box checked in
properties, unchecks box on other drive when applied.
Either drive is fully functional when box is checked--
other functions as CD-ROM.
I tried with a Lite-On CD-RW with same results.
Any ideas?

I believe that's the case for recording. I see it here. However, one
device can play, the other record, which would be the usual procedure.

You would need an enhance cd/dvd burning software. I do not believe that
XP, Nero or Roxio does allow multiple burning. Also, if you do get a
multi-drive burning software, you must make sure that your drives have some
type of buffering (burn-proof) support.
