I would like to take advantage of the camera in the new Mpx220. Any ideas of
how to even get started with this? All we need is to capture the image. Are
there any camera APIs for this phone available (free)? Or should we stick
with J2ME ?

Back at MDC earlier in the year when Motorola were promoting the Mpx and
MPx100 devices, they indicated they would have an API set specific to their
MPx phone range, called MotoPro which would provide API access to their
motorola specific functionality including the camera which is the same
across these models. However I don't know when this will be available.

At MDC this year (back in March) Motorola announced the MotoPro Innovation
Platform, which would provide an SDK for their MotoPro devices (then the
MPx, MPx100 and MPx220). However I've not seen any further details on this.
It was to provide common APIs for the motorola specific extensions to
Windows Mobile including the camera, some additional Bluetooth profiles and
more.

Fadinux,
Not even close. I have tried Motorola, I have tried Microsoft. Going through
Java or Compact .Net. and no luck. If you hear anything please let me know.
The best I got was that this would not be available till 2005 windows mobile
Operating System which means products shipping late 2005 (if we are lucky).
Which seems a little out of sinc when we could already be developing cool cam
apps for the Mpx220. Which is what the service providers are asking for.
Ahg!
