Camera icon shows crossed-out in Messenger

I got a voice conversation going on Messenger. I hooked up my camera and
clicked on starting the camera for a video conversation. The other person
didn't see any video image working and the video frame on my Messenger only
showed a camera icon crossed out in red.

Does that mean anything to you? Any suggestions?
