If XP read digital images as music files, then the Autoplay is not set
properly.
Under My Computer, right click on your card reader drive. Click on
Properties, a window will open. Click on the Autoplay tab. Under Select,
change Music to Pictures. This should now show you the options for Pictures.
Click the button "Prompt me..." and click OK.
Try your card reader again.
