Cam won't work properly

's Computer Specifications

Hey I just got windows vista basic on my new computer and my cam will not
work in messengers. The software downloads great, I can see a preview in my
cam, but when I cam I get constant errors. It says assertion error. Can this
be fixed? If so please help me.
