Caller ID not working with USR Caller ID modem

I have the US Robotics 2884B modem (UK) and installed it with the standard
WinXP driver (not using the USR CD). This works fine as a faxmodem, but it
does not give Caller Display/ID data to my chosen program (Windows Media
Center). Media Center just says "Your phone is ringing", which isn't what I
wanted as I bought this Caller Display modem specifically for Media Center.

(I definitely have Caller Display on my line as my phone shows incoming
numbers fine.)

I therefore tried to update to the latest driver on the USR web site, and
their supplied CD. When installing either of these drivers from Device
Manager, it successfully copies files across, then at the end says 'The file
could not be located'. It also gave a blue screen on one initial boot but a
System Restore fixed that. When I updated the driver and rebooted again
however, there is no exclamation mark by the device and it say it's "working
properly". The latest driver number and date is correctly shown.

However it is not working properly because when I do a modem Query from
Control Panel, it says there's a problem communicating with the modem.
Furthermore the latest USR Control Centre does not detect the modem at all.
So, I have:
US Robotics Modem
US Robotics Driver doesn't like the modem
US Robotics Control Centre doesn't detect the modem

I definitely have the 2884B modem (well it says so on the box anyway), and
definitely am using the 2884B drivers from the USR site.

USR's Modem product code detection program also fails.

Basically all I want is to get Caller Display/ID working. Please advise.
Thanks in advance
