I set an appointment for 5:00 to last one-half hour. I do not set it as a
recurring appointment. When it appears on the calendar it shows up as having
been set for 5:04 and ending at 5:36. When I try to open the appointment I
get an error message saying:

"Can't open this item. This appointment is no longer recurring. Close any
open items and try again"

I have tried the Detect and Repair option but it has not solved the problem.
Has anyone else experienced this problem with Outlook 2003 and do you know of
a solution? Thanks.

No, David. I have no solution yet. I can close Outlook and reopen it and it
will let me open the appointments for a short time. It seems that when
Outlook checks the server for mail the problem recurs. If you find a solution
please let me know and I will do the same. Thanks.

Are you using a Dell? there is a know problem with dell laptops and recurring appointments. http://www.slipstick.com/problems/recurringmeetings.htm

are you syncing with a device? we're seeing problems with syncs to a handheld device.

I'm getting the same annoying errors in Outlook 2007 using Vista 64 on an HP
dual core unit. I haven't been able to find any mention of it so far on the
Microsoft Knowledge Base so far. I have tried the latest Hot Fix, "repairing"
the program and reinstalling anew from the CD. Nothing has helped it so far.

Has anyone gotten any info from Microsoft regarding this error?

Hi

Someone suggested I disable the CA antispam module and that sorted it out
for me. Are you using CA anti spam software?

David, I am sorry I did not reply again after trying your suggestion.

I disabled CA anti-spam and now Outlook is working perfectly.

Thank you VERY much for your help.
