Hi,

Does Windows Calendar have to be open for the Reminders to work? I don't
open it a lot and I have noticed that it is not reminding me. I have searched
the help but it is pretty useless and designed for only basic info. I have
ticked the box "reminders should show when calendar is not running" but that
doesn't appear to do anything.

If I open the calendar it says the task is overdue. I have been trying with
multiple items.

It is obviously a bug because it should work.

Laptop Dell new - Vista Home Premium
Laptop goes to sleep mode when not in use.

Thanks
Lara

if the computer is sleeping when the item comes due it can not notify you.
check under Task Scheduler and look for the Colander event and check the options and set them to activate when you want.

Hi,

But when I wake it up - It Should pop up. My "mouse pad is off" notification
does. It seems to only work when I logoff and log back on. I will try the
task scheduler. I just want it to notify me WHEN I set it in the Calendar not
in Task Scheduler otherwise I could have done that with XP.

Cheers,
Lara

the task scheduler is used to run calendar on schedule to notify you.
it appears that with standard setting it will not wake up to run calendar.
you need to change the settings for the calendar in task scheduler to behave as you wish.

Thanks. I took a few minutes and explored the new task scheduler. Didn't
realize how extensive it is compared to XP. I ticked "wake the computer to
run this task" and I will see if that works. In the Trigger section there
isn't a when woken up from sleep option.

Thanks again. I appreciate the help.

i thought it would be useful to know that i was having the same problem. the
application would crash when the reminder was supposed to load. i went into
task scheduler and under action removed the "/reminder" argument and it
popped up just fine. hope this helps.

Thanks Jon.
Your suggestion works. However, I hope MS already knows of this bug. It's
ridiculous to have to do this for each and every calendar event with
reminder to go into Computer Mgmt/Task Scheduler and remove the "/reminder"
argument. I'm sure that argument is there by design, but just not working
correctly.

SP1 will hopefully include a patch!

Interesting....
I'm using the 32bit Business version.
If I don't remove the /reminder, when the reminder attempts to open, I get a window with two options to check online for a resolution and close program. The reminder never appears.
