Hi all, I am running Outlook 2003 Standard and connect to an exchange
server. Everytime I add a new item to my Calendar and set a reminder I get
the following error message:

The reminder for "XXX" will not appear because the item is not in your
Calendar or Tasks folder. Is this OK?

Any ideas? I would like for the reminder to appear.

Is this your default Calendar folder? If it is then start Outlook with the
/resetfolders switch and see if that helps. Open Start, Run and type
(without the quotes but with the space before the switch): "outlook.exe
/resetfolders".

Out of the box Outlook will only fire reminders from the default Inbox,
Calendar, Contacts and Tasks folders. In all other folders items with
reminders will turn red when due.

Well, here is what I did:

My Outlook was originally setup for a POP3/SMTP server configuration.
Recently I have setup a test Exchange Server and I just added the Exchange
account to the same Profile and data file. So now I have a regular POP3
account and an Exchange account. Would that cause any problems? I dont mind
having my Calendar and Tasks in my usual Personal Folders, but it would be
great if I can have it in the Exchange mailbox because then I can test out
the sharing functionality etc.

You can mix Exchange and POP3 in a single profile in Outlook 2003, although
it's not the optimal solution. Create a new profile using your Exchange
mailbox and that will be the default for that profile (default is always
where your email is delivered and where your default folders are). You can
then set up a separate POP3 profile using a PST file or add the PST to your
Exchange profile. Just make sure the settings are for the email to be
delivered to the mailbox.

Ken, OK here is what I did.

1. Created a new profile.
2. Added the exchange account to that profile to a new .pst called
exchange.pst.

Now how do I setup the pop3 account? Ideally I would like it in the same
profile. Could you please explain "Just make sure the settings are for the
email to be
delivered to the mailbox".

I have the old pst file called outlook.pst in which all my email from the
pop account are. Should I import them into the mailbox?

You don't want to have your Exchange emails delivered to a PST file, that's
not real good. The normal slogan related to Exchange and PST is PST = EVIL.

Set up an Exchange account that delivers email to your Exchange mailbox.
Then select Tools, Email Accounts. Select View or change existing email
accounts and click Next. The next screen will show your Exchange account.
Make sure the Deliver new email to the following location dropdown shows
your Exchange mailbox.

Select Add and then select POP3 and then Next. Enter your POP3/SMTP server
information and finish the wizard.
