Calendar Meeting Reminder Option on invitation

I have user who claims when using Outlook 2000 if he received a meeting
invitation he was able to modify the reminder options before doing the
accept. When 2003 he now has to accept then go into the calendar and modify
the notify time. Is there a way to re-enable this option in outlook 2003.
