This is a tough one..
Programs:
Outlook 2002/WinXPpro
Exchange 2003/Win2003 Server

Issue; calendar items disappearing from end user calendars.. Users affected
have Delegates assigned to their calendars.

I have had several complaints that Calendar Items (meetings) are
disappearing from users calendars..

I have looked into this and can find no reason for this to be happening
(other than user error, which is denied by those involved as the cause).

It is random and intermittent.

The only binding factor between the users claiming to be affected is:

1. They have Delegates managing their Calendar.

2. They affected user also receives the meeting notices (in other
words, the "send meeting requests and responses only to my delegates, not to
me", is not checked.)

3. They use Outlook 2002.

**New development..

DelegateA. (Delegate to UserA and UserB) described an issue where:

1.. DelegateA creates a meeting request on her calendar (she being the
meeting organizer at this point) inviting UserA and another user
2.. DelegateA receives the request for UserA to attend via her Delegate
privileges for UserA
3.. DelegateA accepts the meeting on behalf of UserA
4.. In DelegateA's Calendar Item>Tracking , it shows UserA as Accepted
5.. When DelegateA opens UserA's calendar to check that it is on his
calendar, it shows the meeting as "Tentative" (this is still true a day
later, and verified by me)
6.. DelegateA will then open the calendar item from UserA's calendar and
click the Accept button at the top.
1.. DelegateA notes; that it may take several times for it to take as
Accepted
2.. DelegateA notes; If she does not Accept in this manner it is
possible the Calendar item will disappear from UserA's calendar..??
I have looked into KB article http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=311849
(which kind of has some relevance to this matter)

Which says: Microsoft recommends that you turn off the Process requests and
responses on arrival option on the delegate's computer.

Any help would be appreciated..

Thanks in advance..

-Lyle

Are the deleted items in anyone's deleted items folder? Do the users sync
with a pda?

The most common cause is syncing with a pda, but if the deleted items are in
another users deleted folder, it's either the other user deleting it or
something goofy with delegates. if you remove delete permission from the
delegates, does it stop?
