Everytime I accept an appt. from my co-workers, it is placed on my calendar repeating itself every week. They are not entering them as a "series" and they only show up that way on my computer (Dell Inspiron laptop). I'm thinking my best solution is to just delete my outlook and reinstall it myself (the laptop came from Dell with Outlook on it already). ??????

Go into Add/Remove programs and try uninstalling Outlookaddinsetup (possibly
listed as Cyberlink Outlookaddinsetup) and see if it continues.

If your Outlook seems possessed and turns all of your meeting requests into recurring meetings, you have a Dell laptop with MediaDirect.

There is a bug in the add-in that reads Outlook meetings so Media Direct's Instant Office can display then without fully booting into Windows. You'll need to uninstall or disable the add-in called "Outlook Setup Addin (Cyberlink)" to put an end to the errant recurring meetings.

Users are reporting problems with meeting requests having a mind of their own:

When he accepts the meeting, Outlook 2003 automatically tags it as a recurring meeting indefinitely . This is the case whether it is supposed to be recurring or not. Let me guess - this new machine is a Dell? And it has MediaDirect installed?
This application installs an Outlook add-in called "Outlook Setup Addin" which is causing problems for some users. This add-in supports the Instant Office feature of Media Direct. Uninstall it from Control panel, Add and Remove Programs to prevent the problem with future meeting requests.

Along with causing meeting requests to become recurring, it doesn't work well with Outlook 2007 and is responsible for at least some of the complaints about Outlook 2007's slowness and CPU resources spiking.

So what is MediaDirect and Instant Office? It's a way to quickly view certain items on the computer when the computer is powered down. It's a pretty cool idea, too bad it doesn't play nicely with Outlook.
